Why LiveWEL

Just after his 40th birthday, Skip's life was cut short following a brain aneurysm. Skip left behind his wife, Stewart, two stepchildren, Hagan and Charlotte, and their son, Coleman.

In 2018, Skip's family and friends came together to form LiveWEL. Skip was the ultimate family man - a proud son, husband, father, uncle and godfather - and was such a kind soul. Therefore, we are choosing to honor him by helping kids.

LiveWEL's mission is to work in partnership with other organizations that support and provide resources to children who have experienced trauma or are living in crisis to ensure they live a well-balanced and healthy life. LiveWEL combines Skip's love for his family and children and his belief that every child deserves a strong future.

Partnership with Comfort Zone Camp

One of the biggest advocates for children (and adults) who have lost a parent or other family member is Comfort Zone Camp.  When a child loses a parent or a sibling they feel like they are “different or the only one.”  Comfort Zone Camp hosts long weekends that bring kids that have suffered similar loss together, so that they can realize they are not alone and ultimately begin to heal.

This is why, for our inaugural event, we partnered with Comfort Zone Camp will fund LiveWEL and sponsor a Comfort Zone Camp in Skip’s name to empower children who have lost a parent, sibling or primary caregiver. With the incredible support we received at the LiveWEL Launch Party, we are proud to announce that 60 grieving children had the opportunity to attend a life-changing and therapeutic weekend at Comfort Zone in August.
